30 Yard Dumpster Rental in Buffalo

The 30-yard dumpster is the contractor’s workhorse: the same 22-by-8-foot footprint as a 20-yard but with 6-foot walls, holding about nine pickup-truck loads with a 4-ton weight allowance. It is the container for a major renovation, a new build, a commercial fit-out or a big multi-unit cleanout, and the one we swap most often on job sites across Buffalo and Erie County.

Because of the height, it is best loaded with bulky and light-to-medium material; heavy masonry and roofing still belong in smaller boxes.

What fits in a 30 yard dumpster
  • A whole-house gut renovation or a large addition
  • New construction debris: framing offcuts, drywall, packaging
  • Commercial fit-outs, office and warehouse clear-outs
  • Large estate cleanouts with lots of furniture
  • Multi-unit apartment turnovers
  • Big landscaping and fence projects
When to pick another size
  • Concrete, brick or dirt in quantity: too heavy for the box, use a 10-yard
  • Roofing tear-offs beyond a large single roof: weight, not volume, is the limit
  • Tight driveways: the truck needs room to roll off a 22-foot box with 6-foot walls

30 Yard dumpster FAQ
  • What is the difference between a 20 and a 30 yard dumpster?
Same footprint, taller walls: 6 feet instead of 4. The 30-yard holds about half as much again and includes 4 tons instead of 3, but it is harder to load over the side, so it suits bulky, lighter material.
  • Do you swap 30 yard containers on job sites?
Yes, usually the same day if you call before noon. For long jobs we set up a standing swap schedule.
  • Is a 30 yard dumpster good for a roof?
Not usually. Shingles are heavy and a 30-yard load of them would go well over the truck weight. Roofs go in a 15 or 20-yard, sized for weight.
